I have spent 35 years working in various industries at all different levels, and the one thing I have learned is that no pay packet is worth an unhappy working life.
I have been made redundant 3 times in my life, each time reinventing my career by using the skills I have to do something bigger and better each time.
I went into full-time university education at 25 years old with a 5 year old, living an hour away from the university, and 3 part-time jobs to keep my head above water, and although I only achieved a mediocre 2:2 degree, I can only imagine what that 2:2 would have looked like if I'd had the time and resources that my fellow school leavers had available to them. I have taken that determination to succeed into all of the jobs I have done over the years and I now funnel that passion into making magic happen for my clients.
Having trained to be a solicitor, I discovered I hated the job and when I was made redundant, I grabbed the opportunity to go in a different direction and I started working for a Local Authority. Initially in Social Services contracting, and then into managing a Community Transport service and line managing the School Crossing Patrols (lollipop people to you and me!) both at the same time. I loved that job, but there was always something niggling me that I could do more......
When a position came up in the Ambulance Service as a manager for an out of hours team, I took the leap and got the job. I hated it! It was so badly run and the managers had no idea how to manage, I got really frustrated, and a year later I left to become the Assistant Company Secretary for the local NHS Hospital Foundation Trust. This was where I first experienced the type of boss who has no idea what they are doing, lets the staff do all the work, and then takes all the glory, not recognising the great work the staff are doing. Basically, they took all the glory and money and I did all the work! It made me furious and after 4 years I jumped ship to become a Town Clerk.
Becoming a Town Clerk was the best thing I ever did. I got yet another qualification and my job was to do everything from payroll, managing staff, the accounts, dealing with the public, overseeing the Council meetings, implementing every decision made by Council and providing advice to Council to ensure compliance. Everyday was a school day and everyday was different. I saw 2 deputy clerks through their qualifications and it was because they had both said what a great mentor I had been to them, that I realised I was missing my purpose in life - to help other people get to where they wanted to be, without the long hard slog I had endured. I realised that I had people from my old workplaces who had worked for me in various teams, constantly asking me if I was hiring because they wanted to come and be part of my team. It didn't matter what I was doing, they just wanted to be in my team. How fabulous is that? And I hadn't even noticed!
Fast forward and here I am, having put on my big girl pants and taken a leap of faith that I can help so many of you achieve your career dreams. And that is all I want.....for you to reach your career goal and be happy in your work. So, why not allow me to help you spend your worktime doing what you love, because I got myself there and I can get you there too.

Answers To Commonly Questions
You can of course find your own job, complete the application, go to the interview, get the job and then work each day doing that job.... but is it the job you desire or have you settled for what you think you can do? If you're 100% happy and have no desire to go further or change what you do, then you don't need a career coach. However, if you have an underlying niggle that you could be doing more, you wake up each morning dreading going to work, or you always look back and wonder "what if I had have done that course, I could've been XYZ by now!", then you REALLY need a career coach.
A career coach can get you to see your potential and be your biggest supporter in getting you to the place you want to be. Career coaches provide a safe space for you to really open up to what you dream of becoming and that could mean you spend what working time you have left in your life doing something you truly love. And that is worth a £1m pay packet everyday of the week.
Absolutely! If you are thinking about changing career, then a career coach is the number one person who can help you navigate through the challenges and provide you with the guidance and knowhow to get to where you want to be quicker, and you will be more informed than someone who decides to go it alone. Whether you are 20 or 60, or any age in between, you can transition into a new career, doing whatever you dream of, but it will be a lot easier and faster to get there with a career coach by your side, giving you the guidance and information you need to succeed.
Yes. I can provide you with one-to-one support throughout your career journey, or just for parts of it where you feel you need the most help. Job offers should never be simply accepted as they are, remember you are always worth more, and so negotiating that uncomfortable conversation is really important to achieving what you want. I'll take you through the hidden signs and signals of that offer and guide you through a number of options that you can choose from when considering the offer you have received.
That depends on what you are wanting to achieve. If you need help to completely change your career path, it could take months, sometimes it can take years. But I have created programmes which you will have lifetime access to so that you can return to them time and time again to perfect your strategy.
If you opt to join my membership, not only do you get access to all my programmes, but you also get to have monthly live sessions with me whereby you can ask me your burning questions that are specific to your career issues. As well that, you get peer support in a private group and will be the first to know about any programmes or courses I introduce, with full access at no extra cost, for the duration of your membership
So you choose the best way to work with me that suits you, and for how long you wish to do that.
I have over 35 years of career changing experience! I have been in so many different sectors - retail, medical, legal and local government to name but a few. I have worked from the bottom to the very top and have gained an inordinate amount of knowledge and experience along the way.
I have a certificate in Career Coaching, Life Coaching and Personal Social Behaviour, but I also have a degree in Law and Sociology, and postgraduate qualifications in both Law and Leadership. I have combined these with over 15 years of being in leadership and management roles, having dealt with numerous HR matters, recruitment and motivating workforces.
I have mentored many staff through qualifications, promotions and have been privileged enough to have many members of my teams over the years want to follow me into new places of work and sectors, so they can remain as part of my team and continue under my leadership. I have been honoured to have been told I "was the best boss they'd ever had"! I like to think I've inspired them all to go on and be the best they can be in their careers.
I can, and will, give you all the corporate advice you need to get the job you want. As will any career coach you pick. However, I go one step further and will mentor you, guide you and be your biggest supporter for the times when it isn't going quite right, or to celebrate your successes when it does.
Doing this in your current job is an even bigger task, as you are settled, wearing well worn career slippers, sitting in your comfort zone armchair, and you'll likely be resistant to suggestions and guidance because it will push you out of that comfort zone. But if you really want to advance, then you have to make a few changes. I can help you to identify what those changes need to be and we can work together to devise strategies that you can use in your current job and implement them bit by bit. You will see a change and others will notice. That's when the magic will happen.
