Frequently Asked Questions

Answers To Commonly Questions

What are the benefits of career coaching?

You can of course find your own job, complete the application, go to the interview, get the job and then work each day doing that job.... but is it the job you desire or have you settled for what you think you can do? If you're 100% happy and have no desire to go further or change what you do, then you don't need a career coach. However, if you have an underlying niggle that you could be doing more, you wake up each morning dreading going to work, or you always look back and wonder "what if I had have done that course, I could've been XYZ by now!", then you REALLY need a career coach.

A career coach can get you to see your potential and be your biggest supporter in getting you to the place you want to be. Career coaches provide a safe space for you to really open up to what you dream of becoming and that could mean you spend what working time you have left in your life doing something you truly love. And that is worth a £1m pay packet everyday of the week.

Can career coaching help with career transitions?

Absolutely! If you are thinking about changing career, then a career coach is the number one person who can help you navigate through the challenges and provide you with the guidance and knowhow to get to where you want to be quicker, and you will be more informed than someone who decides to go it alone. Whether you are 20 or 60, or any age in between, you can transition into a new career, doing whatever you dream of, but it will be a lot easier and faster to get there with a career coach by your side, giving you the guidance and information you need to succeed.

Do you offer support for negotiating job offers?

Yes. I can provide you with one-to-one support throughout your career journey, or just for parts of it where you feel you need the most help. Job offers should never be simply accepted as they are, remember you are always worth more, and so negotiating that uncomfortable conversation is really important to achieving what you want. I'll take you through the hidden signs and signals of that offer and guide you through a number of options that you can choose from when considering the offer you have received.

How long does a career coaching engagement typically last?

That depends on what you are wanting to achieve. If you need help to completely change your career path, it could take months, sometimes it can take years. But I have created programmes which you will have lifetime access to so that you can return to them time and time again to perfect your strategy.

If you opt to join my membership, not only do you get access to all my programmes, but you also get to have monthly live sessions with me whereby you can ask me your burning questions that are specific to your career issues. As well that, you get peer support in a private group and will be the first to know about any programmes or courses I introduce, with full access at no extra cost, for the duration of your membership

So you choose the best way to work with me that suits you, and for how long you wish to do that.

What qualifications and experience do you have?

I have over 35 years of career changing experience! I have been in so many different sectors - retail, medical, legal and local government to name but a few. I have worked from the bottom to the very top and have gained an inordinate amount of knowledge and experience along the way.

I have a certificate in Career Coaching, Life Coaching and Personal Social Behaviour, but I also have a degree in Law and Sociology, and postgraduate qualifications in both Law and Leadership. I have combined these with over 15 years of being in leadership and management roles, having dealt with numerous HR matters, recruitment and motivating workforces.

I have mentored many staff through qualifications, promotions and have been privileged enough to have many members of my teams over the years want to follow me into new places of work and sectors, so they can remain as part of my team and continue under my leadership. I have been honoured to have been told I "was the best boss they'd ever had"! I like to think I've inspired them all to go on and be the best they can be in their careers.

How can career coaching help me advance in my current job?

I can, and will, give you all the corporate advice you need to get the job you want. As will any career coach you pick. However, I go one step further and will mentor you, guide you and be your biggest supporter for the times when it isn't going quite right, or to celebrate your successes when it does.

Doing this in your current job is an even bigger task, as you are settled, wearing well worn career slippers, sitting in your comfort zone armchair, and you'll likely be resistant to suggestions and guidance because it will push you out of that comfort zone. But if you really want to advance, then you have to make a few changes. I can help you to identify what those changes need to be and we can work together to devise strategies that you can use in your current job and implement them bit by bit. You will see a change and others will notice. That's when the magic will happen.
